Busy Week For 22

1/19/07 - This week has been a busy week for the Deuces with multiple back to back calls

including fires MVAs and the usual smells and bells.

 

Monday

Monday started the week off with a log skidder fire which got the new probies some nozzle

experience. Station 22 responded with E-223 w/5, E-222 w/3, and T-226 w/2.

Fire was knocked down and foam was applied to assure extinguishment. Station 32 (Climax)

was requested for a tanker which responded but not utilized.

 

Tuesday

After the fire house started to calm down with everyone getting tired. Station 22 and

Squad 10 were dispatched to an MVA on Blue Ridge Dr. Underneath the under pass.

E-222 w/4 responded and arrived 3 minutes after dispatch with R-228 shortly following.

E-222 found a vehicle on its top with no patients. Patients had walked a short distance to a

local bar were R-228 responded to check on their condition. Units operated for a short

time and returned to service within an hour.

 

Wednesday Night

Wednesday night around 21:30 became lively with an MVA on Zion Rd. were E-222 responded

and arrived again within 3 minutes. Vehicle was overturned and out of the roadway.

While the tow truck driver was removing the vehicle St 22 was alerted for a possible

stove fire on West Gretna Rd. E-222 and R-228 ,which were both on scene of MVA,

responded and found a cooking stove that had just malfunctioned and was stuck in

the broil position. Units cleared from both calls at around 23:00 hrs

 

Thursday

Thursday brought the probies some more nozzle action with a working car fire on Owens Mill Rd.

Probie FFs C Hogan, J Rogers, N Roach, and E Davis all got to share the nozzle time to

completely extinguish the fire. The hydraulic tools were used for the first time to pop the

trunk to assure there was no fire extension. E-222 w/5 and E-222 w/3 both responded.

 

Friday

Mid day Friday became interesting with an assist to St. 31 (Hurt) for a brush fire on Blue Ridge Dr.

Brush 225 and Tender 226 both responded with a total of five men leaving a few members

at the station for a second call. As T-226 was backing into the station the tones hit once again

for an MVA on 29 S near the highway 40 bridge. B-225 was crossing the bridge as the call went

and advised the responding engine that the car was in fact under the bridge. E-222 and B-225

called it a can handle for them which left the rescue in service at the station.
